Job Description

The position of Shop Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of plant personnel and equipment. Some of these responsibilities include training new employees, continuing education of existing employees, monitoring work activities to maximize efficiency, and quality control. Most importantly, the Shop Foreman is the last line of defense against work related injuries. All of the Shop Foreman’s responsibilities must be carried out with an extreme emphasis on safety.
The Shop Foreman is expected to promote continuous improvement within the plant and will be responsible for recognizing and eliminating waste. Success will require a team-based approach in collaboration with fabrication department supervisors and the Plant Manager.
Finally, this role and its responsibilities will grow organically over time. We expect the Shop Foreman to maintain high standards that facilitate both personal and corporate growth. Performance metrics will be created and modified over time to ensure the role achieves the most positive impact for the organization.

 Maintain production schedules outlined by the Plant Manager
 Provide employee training
 Creates and manage employee work schedules
 Oversees daily work of employees
 Assign responsibilities to shop personnel as necessary
 Reviews work completed to ensure it is up to quality standards
 Develop and implement a safety program that includes adequate training, continuing education, and weekly safety meetings
 Enforce all health and safety policies in the shop
 Ensure that all deadlines are met
 Inspect, clean, and maintain shop equipment
 Ensures that shop area is clean, organized, and free of hazards
 Operate shop machinery such as forklifts or manufacturing equipment
 Fixes equipment and machinery as necessary
 Assist employees in on-site health or safety emergencies
 Assist in repair, construction, maintenance or other tasks involved in client work orders
 Provide input for the review of employee performance
 Provide input for and enforcement of disciplinary actions deemed necessary by Plant Management

Eligibility Requirements

 Five Years of Foreman experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
 High School Diploma or GED required
 Warehouse, factory or shop experience required
 Managerial or supervisory experience required
 Possesses detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes
 Ability to create processes and procedures from scratch
 Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
 Computer literate, able to learn new software without extensive training
 Strong proficiency with interpreting project drawings and specifications
 Versed in commercial architectural millwork
 Highly organized and proactive
 Working knowledge of industry related finishes and hardware
 Familiar with the commercial construction process
